We are excited to announce the 2024-2025 Faculty Travel Grants for travel completed by August 15, 2025. Up to $500 are available to support domestic travel, and up to $1,000 is available to support international travel. Travel for research, establishing/strengthening international collaborations, and conference presentations is eligible. International travel can be to any country, but the research conducted/presented upon should be on a Latin American topic.
Application requirements are as follows:
- A completed application form, available here.
- A single-spaced, 1-2 page description of the purpose of the travel, attached to the application form.
Travel grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to guarantee access to as many affiliates as possible, faculty members are limited to one award per academic year (unless there are funds leftover at the end of the year).
Since these are federal funds, a few unique rules apply.
- Funds will only be disbursed after the trip, as a reimbursement, with receipts.
- International travel must be approved at least 30 days in advance by the U.S. Department of Education.
- To comply with the requirements of the Fly America Act, international travel must be booked on a U.S. airline, even if a U.S. airline is more expensive. If a U.S. airline does not fly to the final destination, a U.S. airline must be flown for as many legs as possible.
- Research conducted or presented must be on a Latin America-related topic. Research on Latinx communities in the U.S. or its territories (including Puerto Rico) is not eligible for this funding.
