Naomi Caffee will lead our discussion. The group will explore the history and contemporary issues of Russia's Buryat Buddhist community. In preparation for Naomi’s presentation, she has asked that the group read two chapters from a recent book by Harvard anthropologist and documentary filmmaker Anya Bernstein, Religious Bodies Politic: Rituals of Sovereignty in Buryat Buddhism (University of Chicago Press, 2013).
